Maria Valencia:
Thanked members who attended and volunteered at our "Christmas Lives" event in December.  Mrs. J. Ritch and Mrs. L. Harris - thank you for your continuous volunteer service to GVN rotary.

Capt. Juan Argumedo (Salvation Army Kettle)
Hooray to all members who participated in the "Kettle" event in December for the Slvation Army San Fernando Valley Corps.  We have all earned his gratitude.  Everyone adhered to their individual schedule times and worked hard.  We were able to raise good amount of money during our time slots.  Rotarians not only rang the bells, but devised different methods to encourage people to donate. Les and Zoraida, good job.  I (Catherine) also adopted he same method.  Michael Parenteau, Richard Miller and Wynne Ritch, thank you all.
Capt. Juan informed us that the money raised went towards christmas Baskets or over 275 families and Toys for over 500 kids.

Michael Parenteau formally introduced our guest speaker for the day.

Lotay Yang took time out of his very busy schedule to come talk to us about what he does best; Financial Planning and helping people build wealth.

Club members got a dose of his wealth of experience last week when he addressed us.  From topics such as Retirement Account, Roth IRA, 401K, Mutual Funds, Municipal Funds, S&P500 Index, Bonds, US Treasury, and Stocks.  Everyone present were listening with rapt attention and seriously taking notes.  After a short Q&A session, we had to let him go.  For members who were not present at the meeting, please contact our club president for more information on how to build your wealth.
