Guest Speaker:
Our guest speaker today is Michelle Kaufer, Executive Director “Spare Some Change” - is a 501©3 non-profit organization based in Studio City.
The focus of her Agency is to create awareness, as there are over 1.8 million kids on the streets and are homeless in America today. 1.3 of these kids die every day. These kids did not chose this life. Some were abused, rejected, abandoned and so on and so forth. She played a video clip of what, where, and how these kids survive on the streets on a daily basis and it brought tears to some of us at the meeting.
The goal of her organization is to raise one dollar from a million people.
The Mission is to:
1. Engage, enlighten and empower homeless youth to create change in their lives.
2. Use the power of media to raise awareness for homeless youth.
Funds collected will be used to provide one-on-one mentoring program nationwide and take American Street Kid on a national tour of high schools, colleges and outreach centers, ending in Washington DC
