Members of the Mid SFV Rotary club celebrated World Literacy Day on
September 8, 2010 by delivering baby books to Northridge Hospital and
Tarzana/Encino Medical Center.
Parents of babies born on Sept. 8 were presented with "Read to Me"/"Vamos a leer", a board book by Star Bright Books. Stickers placed on the back of each book read: Congratulations! Your child was born on International Literacy Day. Please read to your child daily; sing to them; tell them stories, and read together. Leyendo juntos es muy importante--Mid SFV Rotary club
According to Debbie Navarro, a club member and District 5260 Literacy Chair, the idea came from an article in Rotarian magazine about an Australian club that had done something similar.
