- Forthcoming Poker Tournament update by Andy Dunchan. Members were encouraged to invite family and friends.
- Office of Councilman Bob Blumenfield & Main Street Canoga Park Presents: Miss Quince! The 15th Annual Dia De Los Muertos Festival on Sunday November 1, 2015 at 10:00AM – 5:00PM. All are invited.
- Barbara Pampalone reminded members about the community “Service Above Self” Rotary Dinner at Los Toros, honoring Alan Wales on November 2, 2015.
- Dave Friedman (president-elect) announced that he attended the president’s –elect District breakfast meeting on Saturday. He said that he met other president elect officers from other clubs and that it was a good opportunity to network with other members. He said he had a great and fruitful time.
- Members were reminded about the Harvest Festival coming up on October 31st.
- On Saturday, there will be an Interact event at USC.
- Les Grossman announced that he still had two tickets left for the District dinner coming up in November. The two tickets were bought immediately.

Topic: Disaster Plan in case of Emergency/Preparing the Encino Community
Our speaker informed us that SFV would experience five or more earthquakes in the next five years. We must prepare and have food, water, and medications for at least one week. A crow bar is also very important to have handy.
She informed us about the importance of planning and readiness in case of an emergency West Valley Medical Center is set up to attend to less critically ill/wounded in case of disaster. Doctors are trained to set-up a triage during times of emergencies. The program at west valley medical center is designed to train people and to get them ready.
The Encino Community and the Encino Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the office of Councilman Paul Koretz and Blumenfield, the fire department, Providence Tarzana Medical Center, are leading the way in preparing the community for the “next big disaster/emergency. People are encouraged to take personal responsibity by getting training in first aid, CPR and to volunteer to help and support local emergency responders, and community safety.
Cert Training Program: This program conducts free training starting January 12, 2015. Other dates are 1/12/16, 1/19/16, 1/26/16, 2/2/16, 2 /9/16, 2/16/16 and 2/23/16 at the Encino Community Center at 4935 Balboa Blvd., Encino.
Our speaker also talked about the importance of building a NEIGHBORHOOD DISASTER PLAN. She mentioned five simple steps to building this plan.

Literacy Program: President Maria gave our guest speaker a book to sign, which will be donated to Casa Esperanza Library.
